On Wedensday night, July 22, the Northern Horde again turned in a strong, but balanced, performace. For the first time in Horde history, we opened the scoring with a Dan Kline goal at 13:31 of the 1st period. After the Horde put up a 5-0 lead in the first period on goals by Liam Monahan, Jeff Neslon and two from Jon Zimmerman, the Diablos got on the board with Dan Mueller’s first goal and followed that with a goal by Diablo Dmitry Tovb. Jeff Nelson added his second goal of the night for the Horde in the second period, where the Diablos outplayed the Horde.
In the third period, the Horde responded well with Dan Kline’s second goal of the night, as well as goals from Tyler LaMont, Brian Hinderks and Dan Bolles. Brother/Sister combination Andrew Dayton and Liza Messinger picked up assists on the final goal of the night – Liza’s first point in the brick red and white. With that point, all Horde skaters who have appeared in a game have picked up a point, showing the balanced nature of the Horde attack.
The defense was again strong, limiting the Diablos to 12 shots on goal. Pete Morrow picked up his third win in goal and had a handful of great stops on the night. The Diablos continue to put up a strong fight, but the Horde's winning ways continued.
On Sunday night, the Horde againt take on the Diablos - at 6:45 pm at Bloomington. It’s friends and family night and the Horde expect a big crowd (by AHA beginner school standards), even though the Horde expect a short bench. Go Horde!
